This is how it began… the year was 1691. A poor sexton from Skede goes up to the top of the Klevaberg. Suddenly in a rock on the hill he sees something glittering suspici- ously like gold. The sexton picks the rock up and rushes, full of expectancy, to the village priest. The latter gets the same idea, and a delegation quickly makes a trip to the resp- onsible authorities in Stockholm. There an analysis is made of the find. But unfortu- nately the ore's gold content is too low… However, they are able to confirm that there is copper in the lump of ore. Copper is, among other things, an important component of bronze, and as we all know, cannons are cast from that material. The state is interes- ted.
